Invitation to the first-ever torch relay at the Chess Olympiad, New Delhi, India on the 19th of June

Dear Sirs, Greetings from All India Chess Federation! It is with great pleasure, I would like to invite the presence of all the Officials of FIDE, Members Federations, Affiliates and Commission members at the first-ever torch relay at the Chess Olympiad to be conducted at 1700 IST on the 19th of June 2022 at the IG Stadium, New Delhi, India. The event will be launched by the honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi in the presence of the Sports Minister of India, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur and the President of FIDE, Mr. Arkady Dvorkovich. The event will be streamed online and the attending participants will be displayed on an LED wall at the venue. Participants are requested to be in formal attire, preferably with the country’s flag pinned on the chest while attending the event online. FIDE and AICF commemorate  c hess  o rigin  with i ntroduc tion of  the Olympiad Torch R e l a y ahead of the 44th  Chess  Olympiad in India The Torch Relay  tradition  will be part of every Olympiad with  India  being the starting flame point Chennai, June 7, 202 2 :  Celebrating the popularity of the game in India and global representation, International Chess Federation (FIDE) and All India Chess Federation h ave agreed to introduce and institutionalise Chess Olympiad Torch Relay ahead of the 44th Chess Olympiad.  FIDE announced that in this Olympic-style tradition, the Torch Relay will always begin from India—the land chess originated from, and then it will travel across all continents before reaching the host city.   Dear Friends of Bangkok Chess Club, We are excited to announce our long-awaited anniversary tournament – 20th Bangkok Chess Club Open – to be held between 22-30 October 2022 at the ‘northern capital of Thailand’ Chiang Mai, at the beautiful, 5-star  Shangri-La Chiang Mai Hotel Chiang Mai is a charming city – you could spend your whole vacation just exploring the famous city center, where the remains of ancient walls encircle over 30 temples, and if you are feeling more adventurous, the nearby mountains are also very beautiful. Our 20th Anniversary tournament will see some small changes to our earlier format, so please read the tournament regulations carefully: Challenger tournament will be 9 rounds instead of 7 rounds previously; Open tournament is intended for over 1600 FIDE rating only, but lower or unrated players can join with a higher entry fee; Players can choose to take a one round bye with half point awarded (rounds 2-7 only).
